The Benguet Provincial Capitol stands as a solid symbol of the unity. industry and prosperity of Benguet province and her people. It was constructed by administration mostly out of provincial funds. With an aid from the national government and contributions from the private sector, principally from the Philex Mining Corporation, Lepanto Consolidated Mining Company and Benguet Consolidated, Inc. Cornerstone laying rites were held on February 16, 1970, while actual construction started in March, 1971. The Capitol was inaugurated on June 19, 1973, sixth charter anniversary of Benguet. Finishing touches continued until September, 1973. Construction of the Benguet Provincial Capitol, willed by the Benguet, became a reality through an energetic and responsive leadership.
Not all can be named here. Suffice it to say that every taxpayer in the province shared in the making of edifice whole and representative of the collective aspiration. Let this be a labor of LOVE and HOPE. For the Benguet Provincial Capitol stands for good government. |
