Natural Attractions found in Kabayan

MT. PULAG

It is an existing natural attraction found in Kabayan. Towering at 9,640 ft, this is the second highest mountain in the Philippines. This lofty and mystic mountain is locally referred to as the "playground of the ibaloi gods" hence, held sacred by the locale folks. Aside from its height and cold weather. Several pristine lakes, the mossy forest and pine forest and the bald"grassland" at the top are added feature of this mountain. It is also the host of various floras and fauna endemic to the area.
It provides great options of activities to the adventure enthusiasts such as trekking, camping, mountain climbing. The regular treks (1 or 2 times a year) sponsored by the LGU is a culture-appreciation treats for energetic travelers.

Man-Made Attractions found in Kabayan

KABAYAN MUSEUM

This is an existing man-made attraction of the municipality of Kabayan. It was established during the 1980s. Visitors can see the artifacts of the municipality. It provides the visitor a better understanding of the culture and traditions of the natives of the place.

TINONGCHOL BURIAL ROCK

This is an existing man-made attraction of the municipality of Kabayan. A unique example of Benguet natives' ingenuity using indigenous tolls to carve out spaces on the rock for burying for their dead. The burial rock was carved out of reverence and respect to protect the remains of their dead relatives from desecration either by human or animals. It is only 15 minutes walk from the vehicular road.

ETAPUAN AND MANENCHEN EARLY SETTLEMENTS SITES

This is a potential man-made attraction of the municipality of Kabayan. Known as the early settlement of the first inhabitants of the place, it is claimed that remnants of the early settlers are still visible. Old folks also claimed that Manenchen was massacre site during the WW II hence tagged as "killing fields". Research iS needed to validate and document these stories.

TAMAK POKINGAN AND TALUKIP CAVE

This is a potential man-made attraction of the municipality of Kabayan. These were the evacuation and hiding places of the people during WW II to hide from the invading Japanese forces.

BESANG FOOT PRINTS

This is a potential man-made attraction of the municipality of Kabayan. The legend says that a giant named Besang left his footprint on the big rocks. Similar footprints are found in the other municipalities suggesting that Besang passed through the place.

MANHUMANG TALKING STONE

This is a potential man-made attraction of the municipality of Kabayan. People in the area referred to it as talking stone because the stone echoes sounds around it.

APESANG ROCK

This is a potential man-made attraction of the municipality of Kabayan. As the name implies, this is a huge rock split into almost 2 equal parts. The local legend goes that a bird started pecking on the rock, which caused the rock to split into two.
